WP4: a) Requirements, b) Topics for European Masters

Objectives

The objective is to relate topics of research more closely to post-graduate teaching (first at the Masters and later at the doctorial level) and use this to focus research questions and thus to help generate new research projects and programmes.

Description of Work

The University of Bologna, which produced the Bologna Convention that introduced the principle of European Masters and Doctorates, will examine requirements for an EU Masters in Digital Culture (month 4)

The Scuola Normale (Pisa) has one of the first post-graduate courses in digital culture consisting of 120 hours of lectures from professors throughout Europe. They will work with the Universdad Complutense de Madrid in outlining how one could use the research topics from WP3 to expand this to a course of 400 hours as required for a European Masters (month 11). This outline will serve as a basis for discussion by all the members at conference 2 (month 12) and lead to future prototype courses in the field.

O Conference 2 PP

Milestones and expected results

The milestones are a report by Bologna on basic requirements for an EU Masters (Month 4) and an outline of a 400 hour course by Pisa and Madrid (month 11), which will be discussed by all the members in the second conference. Trying to define what should be taught will help further define the topics for research.
