To address the challenges of E-Content in the cultural domain two integrating projects are suggested: DILIGEANT and ACE:

DILIGEANT uses virtual reference rooms to link inventories, classifications and thesauri with semantic web technologies to create broadband access for digital libraries in an e-culture grid.

ACE explores the use of new digital methods for navigating and distributing information on the history and culture of European cities in a variety of media and genres. In this IP there will be a European Cities element which Derek Keene (CMH) has provided an initial Modus Operandi, Outline Structure and Outputs. Following a suggestion by IST, the proposal was rescaled to become the STRP proposal DEER-cities.
